Softball Alumni say it all...
“I was new to Grand Island, and pretty sure I would spend the next school year all alone. My new neighbor happened to be Heidi Seigel, and she convinced me to try out for softball. I had been playing for a long time, so I decided to give it a try. It was probably the best thing I did all year. Not only did I meet some amazing people and make wonderful friends, but I also ended up with countless memories. Coach Witt is a great guy and a great coach who is willing to help every single girl that comes out for the team. Northwest Softball was most definitely one of the best things about my high school career!!"
~Andrea Rush '07, Outfield
"Softball was always a release for me. After all the pressures and stress of the school day were over with, I always looked forward to softball. The girls are amazing and the competition is exciting. I always found that softball was the only sport that had a good balance of competetiveness and fun. I'll never forget the experiences of the bus trips and the thrill of winning a game after three extra innings and being able to take home the first place trophy (McCook Tournament)."
~Kristi Thompson Sittner '02, First Base
"Coach Witt improved my game so much over the four years I played for Northwest. I give him a lot of the credit for why I am playing in college now. I had so much fun playing softball for Northwest and it was a truly wonderful experience!"
~Kristen Houchin Stoltenberg '03, Shortstop
"Softball is such a great time. You make a lot of friends and have a lot of fun...making memories that last forever. The team is great and is different from any other team. It's a great opportunity and I loved it!"
~Tiffany Murray Sydzyik '04, Second Base
"Northwest Softball was exciting to be a part of for four years. I was a freshman the year Northwest got the sport of softball, and was a part of the varsity team. Softball was the only sport that I completely loved and enjoyed playing. All the coaches were pretty strict with us, but, at the same time, allowed us to have fun, which made for a special bond between the teammates. I made some wonderful friends through the softball program and we all have memories of the bus trips. I believe the most memorable one was going to Scottsbluff in a school bus when it was at least 80 degrees outside, playing two games back to back in Scottsbluff and winning the tourney, but having to get back on the bus for the trip home. Even though I no longer participate in softball, I still enjoying watching it. I spend a lot of time watching DWU softball/baseball teams. I will always cherish the memories that I have playing softball for the Lady Vikings."
